Quality policy statement for Norstat
Internal routines
Norstat has developed a number of internal routines to ensure the quality of our surveys and deliveries.
For a more in depth description you can download our quality document below.
Thorough testing
Naturally, for all types of projects, proper review and testing of the questionnaire and review of all project materials are standard procedure. The testing is done by our experienced project managers and field staff. Testing is always done by a native speaker in the language of the survey.
Fieldworker training
All fieldworkers are thoroughly briefed on each new project they work on.
All Norstat fieldworkers go through a screening process involving a personal interview and a reading fluency test before being employed. Before working on projects, all fieldworkers take part in a training course covering market research basics, interview technique and the Norstat systems. They also receive a handbook dealing with these topics in some detail. We also make sure to supervise new fieldworkers soon after they start, and at regular intervals throughout their employment ‐ regarding the quality of work as well as with regard to productivity.
Fieldworker validation
We employ different methods of fieldworker validation on all our projects:
- For telephone interviews, we employ call monitoring in real time. In addition we monitor call duration for all interviews.
- For face to face interviewing, we perform callback interviews to a minimum of 10% of all respondents interviewed.
- When recruiting for focus groups or in-depth interviews, we make reminder calls before the appointment and go through all screening criteria.
- Our mystery shoppers are validated by verification that they have been at the location in question ‐ either by submitting receipts or digital pictures from the location.
Project follow-up
On all projects, project managers perform a topline check once data collection has commenced.
All projects are also followed up by our project managers on a daily basis with regard to progress. If issues arise during fieldwork, whether it be related to how the questionnaire functions or the progress of the project, our field staff will always contact the project manager to resolve the issue.
Before delivery is completed, a last check of the dataset is always performed by both the data programmer involved and the project manager.
